With Halloween officially past us, it’s time for the 2019 Holiday season! There are plenty of events to help you get into the mood, including the Festival of Lights on December 1 at the Normandy Fountain.
Before Art Basel kicks off in early December, there’s also a few cultural events happening in the city to get you prepared. The Miami Beach Culture Crawl takes place on Thursday, November 21. Queer Eye star Jonathan Van Ness brings his one man show to The Fillmore on November 22, and the Normandy Fountain plays host to the Vendome Disco on Saturday, November 23rd.
No matter whether you’re in the mood for a cultural fix, date night idea or just want to explore the North Beach neighborhood, there’s plenty in store in November.
Miami Beach Culture Crawl
North Beach Bandshell and Normandy Fountain
Thursday, November 21
Each month, The City of Miami Beach hosts the Miami Beach Culture Crawl, where guests can enjoy a night of arts and culture for free. This month, the event falls on Thursday, November 21 and North Beach will have two events to attend, presented by the Normandy Fountain Business Association and the North Beach Bandshell.
The North Beach Bandshell will feature the North Beach Social, a pop-up food hall with live performances from Electric Kif and the YMU Jazz Collective. Attendees can see all of the best local eats showcased at this community event, plus dine with their neighbors at the communal food hall. The event is free to attend and kicks off at 6 pm.
Down the block at the Normandy Fountain, the Normandy Fountain Business Association is hosting a pop-up as well! Businesses in the area will have live activations, plus a DJ will be performing while Orlando-based artist Heps Fury will be live painting during the event. Also joining the festivities will be the MiamiBloco drum line! Great event for kids, pets and of course, date night. Be there at 6 pm to not miss anything!
Jonathan Van Ness
The Fillmore Miami Beach
Friday, November 22
Jonathan Van Ness (or JVN for short) is heading to the Fillmore Miami Beach on Friday, November 22nd. The Gay of Thrones and Queer Eye star will be bringing his ‘Road to Beijing’ tour to Miami, and his show will feature a mixture of all of his varied interests beginning at 8 pm.
Known for his particular mixture of comedy and uplifting messages on Queer Eye, JVN’s show will feature stand-up sets and choreographed performances throughout. Apart from comedy and hair, JVN is known to post gymnastics and ice-skating routines on his Instagram page. Parts of these routines will be incorporated into his act, and his desire to compete in the 2020 Olympics in Beijing inspired the name of the tour itself.
Tickets are available for the show through Ticketmaster starting at $45 each.
Vendome Disco
Normandy Fountain
Saturday, November 23
The Normandy Fountain will be hosting the Vendome Disco on Saturday, November 23rd. The event is free and open to the public, hosted by the Normandy Fountain Business Association.
Local businesses in the area will also be hosting a bingo night! Bring your card to each of the participating establishments to earn prizes and gifts! While perusing the different spots in the area, there will be live entertainment as well. As part of our Disco Saturday, local singer Lucy Grau will be performing the ‘Latin side of Disco’ with a variety of hits, including songs in both English and Spanish. Joining Grau will be dance instructor Fernando Garcia, who will be hosting free ‘Latin side of Disco’ dance lessons throughout the event.
The event is free, family and pet-friendly and kicks off at 6 pm. The neighborhood is full of excitement over the upcoming Normandy Fountain events given the huge success of their Salsa Saturday event in October.

Sunday, December 1
Kick off the holiday season in Miami Beach on December 1 with the Festival of Lights! To get residents in the holiday spirit, the Normandy Fountain will be hosting an event with local merchants and live entertainment. The City of Miami Beach lights up the trees for the holiday season and Rabbi Hadar from Temple Moses will lead the lighting of the giant Menorah!
Apart from the local merchants showcasing their best stocking stuffers, the event will also feature coupons to use during the holiday shopping season! While the shopping is happening, art lessons will be hosted by Painting with a Twist, who will lead a Light up Menorah or Christmas Tree class. DJ Leo and carolers will serenade the audience with Christmas Carols and Hanukkah favorites.
This event is sponsored by the Normandy Fountain Business Association and is pet and family friendly. It is free and open to the public and kicks off at 5PM!
